The LINQ Promenade, the open air walkway between the Flamingo and The LINQ on the Las Vegas Strip

The LINQ Promenade is the open air walkway that runs between the Flamingo and The LINQ, east off Las Vegas Boulevard, with the High Roller observation wheel standing 550 feet up at the far end of it. There are shops and restaurants down both sides, palm trees and string lights overhead, and no casino floor to walk through to get to any of it. It is free to walk and it is open around the clock.

The fact that it is a street is why couples ask me to shoot here. Most of the Strip means going inside somebody’s building and asking somebody’s permission to stand in somebody’s lobby. You can walk the length of this in about five minutes, and in those five minutes you pass painted storefronts, a tree lined stretch that goes soft and green, an open air bar, the zipline towers, and the wheel itself.

I’m McKenzie, and I have photographed over 300 weddings in Las Vegas, every year since 2010. One couple is on this page, and they were in their wedding clothes when we walked the promenade. Those are wedding day photos on an engagement page on purpose. It is the same walkway, the same shops and the same light either way, so what you see here is an accurate picture of what an engagement session in this spot looks like.

Why couples pick the LINQ Promenade for engagement photos

The first reason is that you get four or five completely different backdrops without moving your car. Look through the gallery above and count them. There is bright open brick with storefronts on both sides. There is a stretch under the trees where the light drops and everything goes green. There is a white bar counter. There is the wheel. And at the Flamingo end there is a wall of pink neon script with a giant flamingo sculpture next to it. Every one of those is a few minutes’ walk from the last one.

The second reason is the crowd, which sounds like a problem and is actually the point. People are walking past you in almost every frame on this page, and that is what makes the photos look like the Strip instead of like a backdrop. You are two people having a moment in the middle of a busy place. That reads very differently from a posed portrait with nobody else in the shot, and it is the honest version of what a day on the Strip is like.

The third reason is comfort, and it matters more than people expect. It is flat brick the whole way, there is shade under the trees, and there is somewhere to sit and something to drink the whole way along. Compare that with a desert location where the nearest bathroom is twenty minutes away. If you are worried about being tired or overheated or bored, this is the easy one.

Almost everybody tells me they are awkward in front of a camera before we start. I am too. You get prompts instead of poses, and about ten minutes in you stop noticing me. Tell me what you’re thinking and I will walk you through what an hour down here looks like.

What to plan for a LINQ Promenade session

Who has to say yes

Two different people, which is the useful thing to know. Caesars sold the promenade in December 2024 and kept the High Roller itself, so the walkway belongs to one owner and the wheel to another. Nobody publishes a photography policy for the walkway, so permission there comes from asking the property rather than from reading a page. Clark County sits on top of that rather than instead of it: the county requires a permit for commercial photography outdoors, and having the property owner’s permission does not remove that requirement.

None of that is your job. I ask ahead of your date and I plan around whatever comes back. The reason I mention it at all is lead time. Tell me a couple of weeks out rather than a couple of days out and there is nothing to think about.

The High Roller is a separate decision

The wheel opened in 2014, it is 550 feet tall, and a full turn takes about half an hour. It has 28 enclosed glass cabins that hold up to 40 people each, so a normal ticket puts you in a cabin with strangers. Caesars also books private cabins for weddings and does not publish a price for them, so that is a phone call you make and a quote they give you.

Decide this early, because it changes your timeline. Riding the wheel is thirty minutes of your session spent inside a glass sphere, and it books ahead. Every photo on this page was taken from the ground with the wheel behind us, which costs nothing and takes about ten minutes. Both are good answers. They are just different sessions.

The zipline is right overhead

The blue sign in the background of the photo at the top of this page is Fly LINQ, ten side by side ziplines that run the length of the walkway from a launch tower about 114 feet up. It opened in November 2018. You do not have to care about it, but riders pass overhead through the middle of the promenade all day, and you can see two of them in the gallery photo with the wheel behind the couple. It is part of what the place looks like.

Parking, and how far you actually walk

The garage is behind the promenade, with entrances off Flamingo Road at LINQ Lane and off Koval Lane, east of the boulevard. Self parking is paid for most visitors and Nevada residents get a free window with a driver’s license, and Caesars adjusts those rates often enough that it is worth checking the current rates rather than trusting an old article.

You park once and walk from there. The whole promenade is a few hundred yards of flat brick, all of it outdoors, none of it uphill. Wear whatever you want on your feet. This is the one location where I am not going to warn you about the ground.

Heat and crowds

July and August on the Strip are brutal by two in the afternoon and the brick holds the heat well past sunset. Summer sessions here run early morning or the last hour of daylight, no exceptions. From about October through April an afternoon down here is comfortable.

The crowd is heaviest from late afternoon into the night, especially on weekends. That is not a reason to avoid those hours, because the crowd is part of the look, but it does mean we move at the pace of the walkway instead of standing wherever we like. If you want the promenade close to empty, that is a morning.

The best time of day for photos at the LINQ Promenade

Morning and dusk both work here, and they give you two different sets of photos.

Before about ten in the morning, the shops are still closed and the walkway is close to empty. Light comes down the length of it from the side, the trees throw soft shade, and you can stand in the middle of the brick without waiting for a gap in the crowd. Everything in the gallery above was shot in daylight, and you can see how open and clean the walkway looks when it is not packed.

Dusk is the other one, and it is the version most people picture. Once the string lights come on and the wheel lights up, the whole promenade turns into color. You get neon, glowing storefronts and the wheel changing colors behind you. The tradeoff is people. Evening is when the Strip fills up, so expect to work around a crowd for that look.

Midday is the one to skip. The sun comes straight down between two rows of buildings, which puts hard shadows across faces and blows out the brick. Ask me about a date and I will tell you which window fits what you want.

Let’s plan yours

If the promenade is the one, send me a message and tell me what you have in mind. I will ask the property, watch the light for your month, and give you a time to be there. You can see how a full engagement session works, or read about proposal photography if that is what you are planning instead.

If you want the Strip but a different piece of it, the Bellagio has the fountains and the conservatory, and the Welcome to Las Vegas sign is ten minutes south of here. Every spot I shoot is on the locations page.

You do not have to know how to pose. That part is on me.

Questions

Good to know

Do you need permission to take photos at the LINQ Promenade?

The walkway is private property, and it changed hands in December 2024: Caesars sold the LINQ Promenade and kept the High Roller itself, so the walkway and the wheel now have different owners. Nobody publishes a photography policy for the walkway, which means the honest answer is that permission gets asked rather than looked up. Clark County is a separate question and not a substitute one, because the county does require a permit for commercial photography outdoors and the property owner's permission does not replace it. Both of those are my job, not yours. Tell me the date and I sort out where we are allowed to stand before you get there.

Can you take photos inside a High Roller cabin?

Yes, but it is a separate booking from your session. Caesars books private High Roller cabins for weddings and does not publish a price, so you ask them and they quote you. Cabins book up, so decide early whether you want to ride the wheel or whether you just want it lit up behind you. Everything on this page was photographed from the ground.

Is the LINQ Promenade a good place for a surprise proposal?

It is one of the better ones on the Strip, for a plain reason: nobody looks twice at a photographer there. The walkway is full of people holding up phones all day, so I can already be in position and working without giving anything away. I plan the timing and the spot with whoever is proposing, and I keep the details of how it works between us. You can read more on the proposal photography page.

What time of day is best for photos at the LINQ Promenade?

Two windows work and they look completely different. Morning, before about ten, gives you an almost empty walkway and soft light coming down the length of it. Dusk gives you the string lights, the storefronts and the wheel all lit at once, with a crowd around you. Midday is the one to avoid, because the sun comes straight down between the buildings and puts hard shadows across your faces.

Where do you park at the LINQ Promenade?

The garage sits behind the promenade, with entrances off Flamingo Road at LINQ Lane and off Koval Lane. Self parking is paid for most visitors and Nevada residents get a free window with a valid driver's license. Caesars has changed those rates more than once, so check the current LINQ parking rates before you come. You park once and the whole session is on foot from there.
