M Resort Spa Casino, 12300 Las Vegas Boulevard South in Henderson, about eight miles south of the Strip
The M Resort Spa Casino sits at 12300 Las Vegas Boulevard South in Henderson, where the Boulevard runs into St. Rose Parkway. It opened on March 1, 2009 on more than 90 acres, and it is the southernmost casino resort in the valley, about eight miles below the middle of the Strip on ground high enough that the view north looks down over the whole thing. The original tower held 390 rooms. A second tower priced at about $206 million opened in December 2025 and roughly doubled that, along with a new ballroom.
I’m McKenzie, and I’ve photographed weddings in Las Vegas since 2009, more than 300 of them. Let me tell you straight away what this page is and what it isn’t. Every photo here comes from one wedding day that started at this resort. The couple took rooms, got ready in them, did their first look downstairs and let me photograph them around the property. Then they left for a ceremony somewhere else and a reception after that.
So you are seeing the guest rooms, the marble walkway on the ground floor, the staircase and the front entrance. You are not seeing a ceremony at the pool or a reception in the ballroom. If that is what you came for, the resort’s own weddings page is where to start. But if you are getting married anywhere in Henderson and wondering where your morning should happen, this is a real answer, and the light in these photos is the argument for it.
Why this resort photographs better than it looks like it should
The walkway is the reason. It runs along the ground floor past Anthony’s Prime Steak and Seafood and Marinelli’s, it is paved in pale marble, and it is at least three times wider than it needs to be. That last part matters more than anything else on this page. A wide corridor lets me stand far enough back to put two people small in a big empty frame, which is why the first look photo works at all. In a normal hotel hallway that shot does not exist.
It is also lit from two directions at once. Skylights and drum fixtures overhead, and daylight coming in sideways from the glass at the end of the run. Overhead light on its own puts shadows under eyes. The sideways daylight fills those back in. Nobody planned that, it is just how the building was drawn, and it means the walkway photographs the same at one in the afternoon as it does at six.
Then the floor. Polished marble throws a soft reflection back up under a gown, so a dress with a long train reads as a shape rather than a white blur. The staircase does the same trick standing up: wide shallow steps with glass railings, so a train can spill down eight or nine stairs without a handrail cutting through the middle of it.
Two honest notes. The walkway is a working part of a casino resort, so there are people in it, and I time frames around them rather than clearing the place out. And the rooms are hotel rooms, beige and lit from one window, which is fine because that window is all I want. Turn the ceiling lights off when we start. Overhead bulbs and daylight are different colors and mixing them turns skin orange.
If you’re comparing places on this side of the valley, I’ve built the same kind of page for Green Valley Ranch in Henderson and Lake Las Vegas out east, and there’s a broader look at Las Vegas wedding photography if you’re still deciding what your day looks like.
What it takes to get married and photographed here
The spaces the resort offers
The resort lists both outdoor and indoor options. Outside, you can walk an aisle between the two infinity pools at the M Pool and hold the ceremony on the pool deck, with the terraces beside it for a reception. Up top, LUX sits at the top of the tower with an outdoor terrace and separate room for a ceremony, cocktails and dinner, and the venue’s listings describe it as sitting about 400 feet above the Strip. Indoors there is the M Pavilion at 25,000 square feet and the Milan Ballroom at about 17,400, which splits into smaller rooms.
I have left guest counts off this page on purpose. The numbers floating around the directory sites are general event capacities rather than seated wedding capacities, and they do not agree with each other. Ask the resort for the number for your space and your date.
Ask about an outside photographer when you book
The resort does not publish a policy on outside photographers either way, so this is a question for the events office and not something anyone outside it can answer for you. Ask two things: whether a fee attaches to bringing your own photographer, and what certificate of insurance they want on file. Any working wedding photographer already carries that insurance, and sending it over is routine paperwork that takes me about five minutes.
Building the timeline around a ceremony somewhere else
This is the version of the day I actually shot here, and it is worth laying out because a lot of Henderson couples end up doing it.
Everyone gets ready upstairs in the morning. Rings, shoes and the dress on a hanger get photographed in the room while hair and makeup happen. Then the first look and the portraits downstairs, before anybody is tired and before a veil is pinned on. By the time you leave for the ceremony, the two hardest parts of the day to photograph are already done and you have the rest of your hours for the parts you cannot repeat.
Give that block about ninety minutes if you can. Sixty works. Anything under forty five and I am rushing you, and rushed is the one thing that shows up in a photo.
The best time of day for photos at the M Resort
For anything outside, the ninety minutes before sunset. There is nothing tall around this property to break up the sun, so between about ten in the morning and four in the afternoon the front drive and the pool deck are hard light and squinting. In June sunset lands close to eight in the evening here, and in December it is closer to four thirty, which moves that window by three and a half hours depending on your month.
Inside, it does not matter, and that is the quiet advantage of this venue. The walkway, the staircase and the entrance all hold up in the middle of a July afternoon when an outdoor venue would have nothing to offer. If your ceremony time is fixed and it lands at the worst hour of the day, this building still gives us somewhere good to go.
Let’s talk about your day
If you’re getting married at the M Resort, or staying there and getting married somewhere else in Henderson, I’d love to hear about it. Tell me your date, where the ceremony is and roughly how the day is shaped, and I’ll tell you honestly how many hours it needs and where I’d put the portraits.
Send me a message whenever it’s convenient. There’s no rush and nothing to sign.
Questions
Good to know
Can you get married at the M Resort?
Yes. The resort runs its own weddings and events office and lists several spaces, including LUX at the top of the tower with an outdoor terrace, the walkway between the two infinity pools at the M Pool, the pool terraces, the 25,000 square foot M Pavilion and the Milan Ballroom, which divides into smaller rooms.
The wedding in this gallery did something different. They took rooms here, got ready, did their first look downstairs and were married elsewhere, which is a normal way to use a hotel and worth knowing about if your ceremony is already booked somewhere else.
Where do you take wedding photos at the M Resort?
The long marble walkway on the ground floor does most of the work. It runs past the restaurants, it is wide, it is lit from above and from the glass at the end, and on a weekday afternoon it is close to empty.
After that, the wide staircase off the walkway and the covered drive out front. All three sit within a couple of minutes of the elevators, so you can shoot the whole set without anybody going outside in a gown in July.
How far is the M Resort from the Las Vegas Strip?
About eight miles south, at 12300 Las Vegas Boulevard South where the Boulevard meets St. Rose Parkway. It is the southernmost casino resort in the valley, and the drive up to the middle of the Strip runs fifteen to twenty minutes in normal traffic.
That distance is the point for a lot of couples. Guests get a resort room and a casino floor without the Strip traffic, and Henderson venues and churches are all within a short drive.
Can you get ready at the M Resort if your ceremony is somewhere else?
Yes, and it works well. The rooms have full height windows, which is the only thing I really need for getting ready photos, and the ground floor gives you somewhere to do a first look and portraits before anybody gets in a car.
Ask at check in for a room whose window is not staring into a wall or a parking structure. That one detail decides how the morning photos look.
What time of day is best for wedding photos at the M Resort?
Outside, the last hour and a half before sunset. Inside, almost any time, which is the useful part. The walkway is lit the same at one in the afternoon as it is at six.
If your ceremony is at midday and your reception starts right after, that indoor light is what saves the portraits. We did the whole first look and portrait set here in the early afternoon and none of it looks like early afternoon.
