How Much Does Proposal Photography Cost in Las Vegas in 2026?

Proposal photography in Las Vegas usually runs $350 to $600. See what each price actually buys, my own hourly rates, and what to budget for park entry.

Proposal photography in Las Vegas usually costs $350 to $600, and most of that spread comes down to how much time you are booking. My own rates are $350 for a single hour, $500 for an hour and a half, and $300 per hour once you book two hours or more. I’m McKenzie Stewart, I’ve been photographing in Las Vegas since 2009, and photographing surprise proposals is one of my favorite parts of the job. I publish my rates because I’d rather you know the number before you email me than after. Below is what the rest of the market charges, and what makes one quote a couple hundred dollars higher than another.

Las Vegas proposal photography prices at a glance

Here is what you get at each price. The first two lines are starting prices on the big photography marketplaces in Las Vegas. The last three are mine.

What you get Price in Las Vegas
An hour of proposal coverage on a booking marketplace From about $365 to $425
Extra time on a marketplace booking, per 30 minutes About $165
One hour with me $350
An hour and a half with me $500
Two hours or more with me $300 per hour

The marketplace figures are published Las Vegas starting prices from the national booking sites that sell short photo sessions here. Those figures and my own rates are current as of August 2026, and like everyone’s, they are subject to change.

Why Las Vegas proposal quotes run $350 to $600

A proposal shoot costs more than a regular portrait session of the same length, and that is true across the whole industry. Thumbtack’s cost guide says a proposal shoot can run as much as double a standard engagement shoot, because it is event photography. There is planning to do beforehand, the moment happens in one narrow window, and there is no second take. So proposal prices start higher than regular session prices everywhere you look.

Five things decide where a particular price lands inside that range.

How much time you book

Time is the biggest factor, and it is usually the whole explanation for a gap between two prices. On the big marketplaces a short session can be 30 minutes, but at least one of them sets a one hour minimum on proposal bookings. A one hour booking with me is $350, and an hour and a half is $500. If one quote is $350 and another is $600, the lower one is probably a short booking and the higher one is probably an hour or two. Two hours with me comes to $600, because my rate drops to $300 an hour once you book two or more. Neither price is wrong. They are two different amounts of coverage.

Whether planning is included in the price

A surprise proposal needs a plan before the day: where you’ll be standing, what time the light is good there, how I get into position without your partner noticing, and what happens right after your partner says yes. I work all of that out with you ahead of time, and it is part of the hourly rate rather than a separate planning fee. Some prices include that work and some cover only the shooting itself. That is one reason two quotes for the same number of minutes can still be a hundred dollars apart. If you want the full walkthrough of the planning side, I wrote about it in how to plan a surprise proposal in Las Vegas.

How many edited photos you get, and how soon

This one surprises people the most. Lower priced packages usually deliver a set number of images, and anything past that number costs extra. I deliver every edited photo from your session, with no charge per image. If you want a number to plan around, it works out to about 60 edited images per hour of coverage, and I usually deliver more than that. At that rate, a 30 minute session comes back with roughly 30 photos and an hour and a half comes back with roughly 90. How fast the photos come back varies from one quote to the next too. My contract allows eight weeks, and I try my best to have your gallery to you within two.

What you can do with the photos

You can print your photos, post them anywhere you want, and edit them however you like. That is worth checking on any quote you compare, because some galleries limit printing or posting and charge to lift the limit. My galleries have no limits like that. The only two things you cannot do with my photos are credit someone else for taking them and make money from them.

Whether a second photographer is involved

Some proposal quotes cover more than one photographer, one hidden for the moment itself and one for the portraits after. Two people cost more than one, so a quote built that way will be higher than a quote for a single photographer. I shoot proposals myself, so my rates are the price of one photographer.

What a low quote usually means

A low number is almost always a shorter booking rather than a worse photographer, and for plenty of people it is the right choice. If you only want the moment itself and a few frames afterward, a 30 minute session covers it and there is no reason to spend more. The one thing to watch for is a session that runs long. One marketplace bills extra time at about $165 per 30 minutes, which is why booking the time you need up front is worth doing. Proposals often run long, because after the yes there are hugs and phone calls and a very happy couple who suddenly wants pictures. If you think that is you, book the longer block at the start.

Photographer or proposal production company?

A lot of the Las Vegas proposal prices you see online are not from photographers at all. They come from proposal production companies, which sell the setup: an arch, a rose petal path, a red carpet, candles, a marquee sign, sometimes a violinist. Photography is an add on to that package, and it is often short, because what they are selling is the setup rather than the photos.

Both are real options, and plenty of people are happy with either one. You just need to know which kind you are looking at, because the numbers are not comparable. When a package price looks low for everything it lists, the photography inside it is usually brief. When a photographer’s price looks high next to that, it is usually because you get more shooting time and more photos. Read every quote for two things: how many minutes of shooting, and how many photos you end up with.

How long does a proposal session need to be?

I usually suggest at least an hour, and it is worth thinking about in two pieces. The proposal itself takes a couple of minutes at most. What takes time is everything around it: me getting into place before you arrive, the walk up, the moment, and then the portraits afterward while the two of you are still excited.

Those portraits afterward are why I rarely suggest the shortest option. The photos taken right after a yes are usually the best ones of the whole session, and a 30 minute booking is often over right as that part starts. How much time you need depends on your plan, and we work that out together before you book. For a straightforward proposal at one location, an hour is enough.

The Las Vegas costs that are not the photographer’s fee

The other Las Vegas costs are small. They are worth knowing about so nothing surprises you, but next to the photography fee they will not move your budget much.

  • Red Rock Canyon: $20 per car for the Scenic Drive, plus a $2 timed entry reservation booked through Recreation.gov. Reservations are required from October 1 through May 31 for entry between 8:00 AM and 5:00 PM. Outside that season and outside those hours, you just pay the $20. Current fees are posted by Red Rock Canyon.
  • Valley of Fire: $10 per vehicle registered in Nevada and $15 for everyone else, per the Nevada State Parks day use fee. One thing to know beyond the money: Nevada State Parks treats any paid photo session as commercial use and requires a photography permit, and applications go in at least 30 days ahead. For a proposal you are planning a few weeks out, that lead time is usually why I suggest somewhere in Clark County instead.
  • The Strip: the spots most people picture cost nothing to stand in. There is no ticket and no admission fee for the Welcome to Fabulous Las Vegas sign, the Bellagio fountains from the public viewing areas, or the sidewalks. Resorts are private property, though. Anything more than a camera held in your hands, a tripod or lights for example, means asking the hotel first, and the answer depends on the property rather than on a published fee.
  • Parking: this is the one line I cannot give you a number for. Every resort sets its own parking rate, so check the one you’ll be at.

Adding an engagement session after the yes

A standalone engagement session with me is $500 for an hour and a half. Added to a proposal session, that puts the two together somewhere between $850 and $1,000: $850 if you booked one hour of proposal coverage, $1,000 if you booked an hour and a half. There is more detail in how much engagement photos cost in Las Vegas.

There is one thing to know before you pay for that engagement session. It comes free with wedding packages of eight hours or more, and eight hours is the most popular choice for a traditional wedding. So if there is any chance you’ll hire me for the wedding too, waiting costs you nothing and could save you the $500. My wedding photography rates are published the same way my hourly rates are, so you can work that out before you decide.

How far ahead should you book a proposal photographer?

Reach out as soon as you have a date in mind, even a rough one. One of the big marketplaces suggests at least two weeks, and two weeks is usually enough for an ordinary week of the year. Proposal season here is the stretch from Christmas through New Year’s and into Valentine’s Day. Those weeks book up before the rest of the calendar does, so give yourself more room if you are proposing then.

Common questions about Las Vegas proposal photography costs

Does a proposal shoot cost more on a weekend?

It can. My rates vary by the day of the week and by location, so a Saturday at a popular spot is not always the same number as a Tuesday morning. The published rates are the starting point, and you’ll have the exact number for your date before you decide anything.

Is there a travel fee if the proposal is not on the Strip?

There is never a travel fee anywhere in Clark County, and that covers almost everywhere people propose here: the Strip, downtown, Summerlin, Henderson, Red Rock, Boulder City and the dry lake beds. If your spot is farther out than that, ask me, because there is often no fee for those either.

Is there a fee if we have to move the date because of the weather?

Not with me. If the forecast looks bad and both of our calendars have room, I move the session to another day at no charge. Sometimes moving it is not possible, usually because you are only in town for a few days. In that case we shoot anyway, and a lot of my favorite photos were taken in weather that was not perfect.

Are prints or an album included in the price?

No. Every edited digital photo is included, and prints and albums are separate purchases. You can order some print products straight from your online gallery. Albums I design myself are quoted on request, because the design work takes time. Galleries typically stay open for years, so you do not have to decide any of that now.
