The Best Time of Year to Get Married in Las Vegas

The best time of year to get married in Las Vegas is spring or fall. March, April, October, and November are the four strongest months. Average highs in those months run from the upper 60s to the low 80s, the evenings are comfortable for guests standing outside, and none of them fall in the June through September stretch when 100 degree days are normal here.

Inside that spring and fall window, the month you pick depends on what you care about most. Comfortable temperatures, thinner crowds, lower hotel rates for your guests, and the best light for photos do not all peak in the same month. Clark County issued 70,598 marriage licenses in 2025, which is about 193 a day. Plenty of other couples are looking at the same dates you are, and a single convention or race weekend can change what your guests pay for a room.

Las Vegas Month by Month: Weather, Room Rates, and Sunset

The room rates here are what Las Vegas actually averaged in 2025, the most recent full year, and not a prediction of what your year will cost. Use them to compare one month against another, not to predict what a room will cost on your date. The temperature figures are long term averages for Las Vegas, so any single year can run warmer or cooler than what you see.

What Each Season Feels Like for a Las Vegas Wedding

Spring Weddings in Las Vegas (March, April, and May)

Spring is the season most couples picture when they imagine an outdoor wedding here, and March and April deliver it. Mornings are cool, afternoon highs sit in the 70s, and nobody is uncomfortable standing outside through a ceremony. By late March the sun is setting late enough that a late afternoon ceremony still leaves you daylight for photos afterward. Spring works well if you want the ceremony and dinner both outside.

The tradeoff is wind. April is one of the windiest months of the year, and on a gusty afternoon at a desert location, veils and hair don’t stay where you put them. I’ve photographed enough windy April afternoons here to plan the timeline around them. May is the month that changes most. Early May still feels like spring, and by the end of May the afternoons feel like summer.

Fall Weddings in Las Vegas (September, October, and November)

Fall is the other strong season, and October is the most comfortable month of the year. Afternoons are warm, evenings are cool, there is no heat to plan around, and the wind is calmer than it is in spring. In October you can keep your guests outside all day and nobody has to check the forecast. The tradeoff is that everyone else wants October too. It’s the busiest wedding month in Clark County and the most expensive month of the year for hotel rooms, so your guests pay more for a room and more couples are after the same Saturday you are.

September starts hot and finishes comfortable, and the last week of it usually feels like early October. Rooms averaged $190.56 a night across September and $203.88 across October, which is a real difference for guests booking several nights. Check the Global Gaming Expo dates first, because it runs into the first day of October. November highs average 67 degrees and the sun is down before 6:00 p.m., so an outdoor ceremony works better in the afternoon than in the evening. If you like the idea of a wedding that ends indoors with everybody warm, November is a good fit.

Winter Weddings in Las Vegas (December, January, and February)

You can have a winter wedding here, and it does not get very cold. December and January highs average in the upper 50s. The middle of the day is comfortable for an outdoor ceremony. Once the sun sets the temperature drops, and in winter the sun sets early, so the whole day runs on an early schedule. Hold the ceremony in the early afternoon, take portraits while the light is still good, and move everything after that indoors.

That gives you an outdoor ceremony and an indoor evening. Winter is the quietest stretch of the year for weddings in Clark County, so you’re competing with fewer couples for a Saturday and for the vendors you want.

Summer Weddings in Las Vegas (June, July, and August)

Summer is the season I get asked about most, usually by couples who already have a reason to marry in July. It can absolutely be done, and I photograph weddings here all summer. The day just runs on a different schedule. The middle of the day stays indoors, and anything outdoors happens close to sunrise or sunset. You also have to plan for afternoon storms, because monsoon season runs June 15 through September 30 and July and August are the active part of it. Summer makes sense when your date is set by something other than the weather. Hotel rooms also cost the least all year in those three months.

The Las Vegas Events to Avoid When You Pick a Wedding Date

A handful of Las Vegas events fill the hotels and clog the roads every year. If your wedding lands on one of them, your guests pay more for their rooms and everybody sits in traffic. When a couple asks me about a date, this is the first thing I check. The clearest proof is the Formula 1 race. In November 2023, its first year here, the citywide average room rate hit an all time record of $249.31 a night, with Strip hotels averaging $270.17, a 37.7 percent jump over the same month a year earlier.

Here are the recurring ones in calendar order, with the dates that have been published so far.

October works differently from the rest of the year. Its room rates are high because the whole month is convention season, not because of one event you can plan around. The city’s own calendar lists 30 separate conventions in October 2026, and two of them expect around 25,000 people each. Those two are the Global Gaming Expo, which runs September 28 to October 1, 2026, and the convenience store industry’s annual show on October 7 to 9, 2026. If October is your month, plan on a convention crowd somewhere in town on almost any date you pick.

Before you sign a venue contract, look up your exact date on the Las Vegas convention calendar. You can search it by date range, and it gives you each event’s name, dates, venue, and how many people it expects. It lists a sample of what’s coming rather than every single event in the city, so use it as a strong first check rather than a guarantee. All of the dates above shift a little from year to year, so check yours there too.

December is worth one extra look. Its average room rate of $183.87 sits right at the yearly average of $183.52. A monthly average can’t show you a ten day event sitting inside it, and December has one. The rodeo runs December 3 to 12 in 2026, which means a wedding on December 5 and a wedding on December 20 are two different weekends in this city.

Does the Time of Year Change What a Las Vegas Wedding Costs?

Some wedding costs move with the calendar and some don’t. The one that clearly moves is the hotel room, and your guests are usually the ones paying for it. The citywide average was $183.52 a night in 2025, with October at $203.88 and July at $154.76, so the same room can swing around $50 a night depending on when you pick. Rates follow demand, which is why May and October, the two busiest months for visitors, are also the two most expensive.

Vendor pricing is a separate question. I charge the same hourly rate in July that I charge in October.

The bigger thing the calendar changes is availability. Those 70,598 marriage licenses aren’t spread evenly through the year: October brought 7,481 and January brought 4,777. In the busy months, more couples are competing for the same Saturdays with the same venues and the same vendors.

The three months with the lowest room rates, June, July, and August, are also the three hottest months of the year. If you choose a date on room rates alone, you land in the season that’s hardest on your guests. Pick the month that suits the day you want first, then look at the specific weeks inside it.

Should You Get Married on a Weekday in Las Vegas?

Nobody can honestly tell you a weekday wedding costs less here, because Las Vegas reports its room rates by the month and not by the day of the week. You can check your own date, though, and in this city the week you pick matters more than the day of the week. A convention or a race fills the hotels for its entire run, and the big shows run straight through the middle of the week. A Tuesday inside CES week is harder on your guests than a Saturday in the middle of February.

Couples ask me about the calendar dates too: Valentine’s Day, New Year’s Eve, and dates with repeating numbers. February and December are not the wedding rushes people assume they are, at 5,663 and 5,091 licenses in 2025, both well below the October peak. If you want one of those dates, book the venue first. Booking the venue is what locks in the date.

How the Season Changes Your Wedding Photos

The month you pick decides what time of day you get married, because sunset moves by more than two hours across the year. In December and early January the sun is down before 5:00 p.m., so portraits happen in the early afternoon and everything after the ceremony happens after sunset. From April through August, sunset comes after 7:00 p.m., so a ceremony can start late in the day and still have light when it ends.

The difference between the shortest and longest days of the year is large. The shortest day of the year holds about 9 hours and 44 minutes of daylight and the longest holds about 14 hours and 40 minutes. The last hour before the sun goes down is the light I want for portraits. The month you choose decides whether that hour lands in the early afternoon or in the evening. That means a December ceremony starts early, and a June ceremony can start late in the day.

How Far Ahead Should You Book a Las Vegas Wedding?

Book about a year ahead, and lock the venue and the date before anything else. How early you need to move depends on the month you want. October and May are the two heaviest wedding months in Clark County, so a date in either one is worth starting on earlier. In the winter months, far fewer couples are competing for the same Saturday. Nationally, couples begin serious planning about 12 months before the wedding, and 82 percent book the venue before any other vendor. I hold a date for you once your venue is booked, because that is when your date is set.

Outdoor and Desert Weddings by Season

If you’re picturing Red Rock Canyon, Valley of Fire, a dry lake bed, or Mount Charleston, the season changes what is actually available to you, not just how the day feels. Red Rock’s Scenic Drive requires a timed entry reservation from October 1 through May 31. Entry windows start on the hour between 8:00 a.m. and 5:00 p.m., and a wedding or photography permit does not exempt you from it. From June through September, no reservation is needed at all.

Mount Charleston works best in warm weather and gets harder to reach in winter. It runs at least 20 degrees cooler than the valley floor, which is why it works when the valley is too hot. From December through March, the state manages winter conditions on the roads up there, and chains or four wheel drive may be required. On public land generally, Stage 1 fire restrictions usually run from June until around October 1, so you can’t have an open flame like a unity candle at a summer desert ceremony.

These locations also need lead time. Photography and filming permits at Red Rock can take up to 60 days to process, and Red Rock caps wedding permits at 10 commercial and 100 noncommercial a year. Valley of Fire wants special use permit applications at least 60 days before the event. If you’re picking a month a year ahead, none of that is a problem. It does mean you can’t switch locations a few weeks before the date. I photograph at all of these places regularly, and if you book my all inclusive elopement package, I handle the location permit for you.

Questions Couples Ask About Timing a Las Vegas Wedding

What is the single best month to get married in Las Vegas?

April, if you want one month. April afternoons are comfortable from the ceremony through dinner, the sun sets after 7:00 p.m. so the evening never feels rushed, and rooms cost about $14 a night less than they do in October. April also has just one big convention week to plan around, the NAB Show, which moves between early and mid April depending on the year. October has a full month of conventions. October evenings are warmer and less windy, so pick October if a calm evening matters more to you than the later sunset and the lower room rate.

What time should a Las Vegas wedding ceremony start?

Work backward from sunset, because the sunset time changes by more than two hours across the year. Everything else in the day follows it. From April through August the sun sets after 7:00 p.m., so a late afternoon ceremony still leaves you daylight afterward. From November through January it sets before 6:00 p.m., and before 5:00 p.m. in December, so plan the ceremony for the early afternoon and let the evening move indoors.

Is it too hot to get married in Las Vegas in the summer?

It’s too hot for an outdoor ceremony in the middle of the day. Las Vegas averages 78 days a year at 100 degrees or hotter, and almost 26 of them land in July. Summer weddings here work when the ceremony sits close to sunrise or sunset and the hottest hours stay indoors, which is how I usually build a summer wedding day.

Does it rain in Las Vegas, and when?

Rarely. Las Vegas averages 4.18 inches of rain in an entire year, which is what some cities get in a single month. February is the wettest month at 0.80 inches and June is the driest at 0.04 inches. The one stretch worth watching is monsoon season, June 15 through September 30, when July and August can bring afternoon and evening thunderstorms.
